Arkansas State University - Mountain Home relocated to a new campus in January 2000 at 1600 S. College Street. Located on 135 acres, the campus features four buildings totaling 100,000 square feet. The buildings were endowed and named before construction even began on the new campus.

ASU Mountain Home was established as a branch campus of Arkansas State University - Jonesboro in 1995. Since that year enrollment has increased almost 90% and currently 1100 students attend ASUMH. As a public two-year institution, ASUMH offers associate degrees and certificates in occupational fields and a transfer degree for students planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree at another university. ASU-Jonesboro offers junior, senior and graduate courses through the Center for Advanced Studies at ASUMH.

Other educational opportunities include non-credit community interest courses. Low tuition and small classes are two of the main reasons students choose ASUMH. Senior citizens may attend regular college credit courses tuition-free as space is available.

Community support for ASU Mountain Home has been tremendous. More than $7 million in endowments and gifts have been pledged to the university for a lecture series, a concert series, landscaping, construction and more.

The Jim and Jill Gaston Lecture Series and The Bank of Yellville Concert Series bring two lecturers or two musicians to the area annually. The programs are open to the public, free of charge thanks to the generosity of the Gaston’s and The Bank of Yellville.

The Norma Wood Library is located on the first floor of Roller Hall and functions as an education center for the college community. The library houses an open shelf collection that include books, films, audio cassette journals and newspapers. It also offers free access to 18 computer workstations that link to the Internet and several online databases. Anyone living within the university’s service area may apply for a library card.
